I don’t think most people (including academics) realize just how screwed American universities are right now. Yes, the Trump attacks hurt. But the deeper crisis comes from the slow rot of a corporate mindset in university leadership that traded mission for growth. Let’s talk about that.

To think just a few months ago we were all worried about indirects.
If we only knew how much worse it would actually get!

Is it even worth submitting an R01 right now? But that’s what is expected and what we need to do. Feels pretty hopeless right now.

Data are generally required to get buyin about disparities of opportunity that pertain to race, sex, ethnicity, etc. The Ginther report was essential for NIH grant award bias.
