I am running again up Mt. Royal, straight from my house. This after a break of almost 5 years, due to a not properly diagnosed knee injury. It took a Swiss rheumatologist to figure out what's going on, and to put me back on track .
I am still running at a moderate pace, but slowly building up 😊

Good overview about the big change to Canada's #immigration system since 2015, most of it I was not aware of:
www.theglobeandmail.com/business/art...
How Canada got immigration right for so long – and then got it very, very wrong
Canadian immigration was stable, popular and uncontroversial. But a series of changes after 2015 broke the national consensus, and the system

I am still surprised that classism is so rarely brought up as an issues in the art world: ""Class in the arts is a question of upbringing, confidence, inclusion and exclusion. Not everybody is brought up feeling that museums are places in which they belong."

🧵Excellent piece "They appear to have inverted the promise of the internet as an endless archive of information one can navigate for themselves. Do your own research has, in short order, become Get one canonical answer."

This helps explain why Trump/Vance have gone all in on AI...
Hello. I wrote a nice long essay about AI and this very strange moment where we're constantly told we're living in the dawn of a strange new future but the only thing that's actually clear is that everyone feels pretty unmoored and uncertain. I hope you'll read it
AI Is a Mass-Delusion Event
Three years in, one of AI’s enduring impacts is to make people feel like they’re losing it.

In Brazil, the free and instant mobile payment system Pix challenges US dominance
Launched by the Central Bank of Brazil, this system is now used more than credit cards and cash. Its popularity is so great that WhatsApp had to abandon a payment system it wanted to launch locally.

Want to see how it looks like when a glacier in the Swiss Alps crashes down into a valley?

Like in the arctic, the temperature in the Alps has risen much more then the global average, compared to pre-industrial levels by 3 °C.

Yes, time to come up with new ideas to support artists: Les bureaucracy - and direct funding:
"Pourquoi ne pas envisager l’attribution d’une « bourse de subsistance » pluriannuelle renouvelable à la hauteur du revenu médian québécois ?
@saraatremblay.bsky.social @grandemobilisation.bsky.social
« Essayons de brosser un portrait plus global : pourrions-nous garantir la survie économique des artistes, d’une part, et, d’autre part, couvrir les frais liés à la création et à la production ? »
