Conclave (2024): beautifully shot (which is a necessity for making a drama about boring ass church politics), Ralph Fiennes puts in an exceptional performance, Stanley Tucci performs well. Script is a bit dry.

Twist is shallow and drags it down. More integration was needed.

Pretty interesting, and provocative argument about what AI is and where it is headed (spoiler: it's more or less a hoax we have seen before) through the lens of the hype that just died (big data)

Whenever someone says "dems lost because of X" ask if the republicans weren't doing the exact same thing. vast majority of arguments fall to pieces.
lmao yep that's how Republicans did it, by never ever associating themselves with cringe rich assholes
“In a populist moment, the Democratic Party had the extremely rich and the very famous, some great music, and Mark Ruffalo. And they got shellacked,” Caitlin Flanagan writes: theatln.tc/ByLu2ds4

Arcane (season 2, Netflix) continues to be an astonishing creative accomplishment. Every scene feels like a whole art project of a different teams, yet the show flows beautifully.

Just the amount of creativity poured into every little thing floors me.

The other app and this one compares like "running through a dystopian hellscape, over broken glass, with inexplicable FNAF style jumpscares" and "an afternoon spent in a soft toy store".

Hopefully we find something of a middle ground.

This is the case across a range of issues, you can't just say "please once more, put on your pussy hats" if your record is not actually fixing that problem.
this is very true, but never forget that the optics problems created by not putting trump in prison are less important than the substantive problem of donald trump currently being a free man
Many things went wrong in 2024 but a big problem for Harris and the Dems is that they did not have a good answer for "if Trump is a criminal and did all this corruption and crime, why didn't you put him in jail" (because there isn't a good answer.)

I'm sorry, but you can go back to the other app just fine!
This tendency to want to just close the eyes to opposing viewpoints has proven a huge problem for progressive politics. It's rooted in the the idea that even to engage is somehow morally compromising. It means that the argument is not joined and real people aren't won over. bsky.app/profile/lewi...
I find the number of people saying they want to block her as a response to this genuinely baffling. You don't need to like her. She's the leader of the opposition. Even if you're absolutely convinced she's wrong about everything, why not listen to ideas you disagree with?
