I would've loved to visit your video store. My Blockbuster was stocked with ~70% New Releases from Big Studios, 20% Last Year's New Releases (the ones that still circulated), 10% DTV slop.

I'm sure the curated experience you describe existed, but I feel like I missed out on it.

This, along with an economic problem similar to what I feel like my generation (born late-80s) experienced in our teens and 20s--younger gens don't have the same spending power and probably direct what they do have elsewhere (Games As A Service subscriptions, streaming, etc.)

It's apples & oranges, since Ridley Scott was already more established and the theatrical cut kind of messy to begin with, but do you think BLADE RUNNER has a better initial reception if it moves forward/backward a few weeks as well?

Can't speak to an FB comment, but anecdotally:

My landlord (I'm just off Court St. along the new lane) talks about missing when the area was quieter, had less foot traffic, kids playing in the street, etc.

But doesn't seem to connect those things disappearing to rise of cars, if that makes sense.

Yeah, it was a whole thing in the offseason. Originally IIRC HBO was gonna spin-off HARD KNOCKS but that fell through and Hulu stepped in. They've apparently been filming for a bit now. Alas.

The biggest challenge is sometimes feigning surprise (but also knowing what's about to happen and getting her reaction in real-time brings an indescribable joy)
