"The outspread wings of the American eagle are broad enough to shelter all who are likely to come."
It is the great failing of the way politics is practiced on the internet that this has become in any way controversial.

(Other stuff too, yes. But like - come on)

People really, really just don’t understand how good Kareem was - on both ends, for way longer than pretty much everyone else before or since. It’s a really fascinating case study on how much people are willing to discount someone’s greatness if they don’t have recognizable charisma

I also just think that the unraveling of public trust in the US government was an inevitable consequence of advances in mass media (and the reality of the gov't being involved in bad things!), and while this was an inciting event, if it had not happened, something else would have

And - critically - the person who sold them to you should be responsible for when they don't work (an occurrence that should be rare, an outcome incentivized by said responsibility)

Really this is just “Obama was the president when I started paying attention who did wars”

Which like ok, but be for real about that part at least

This is the funniest thing I’ve seen on a very difficult day. Thank you.

Why is his fucking middle name in quotes

Why are there always so many quotes

I know this is not in any way the important thing but it drives me fucking *bonkers*

This might be a landspeed record for opening my laptop, looking at Bluesky, and realizing it's not time for social media anymore (seven minutes)

Do I even wanna know what prompted this rn

As if it is the most obvious and natural
comparison in the world, a logical conclusion that any reasonable person would draw
November 19, 2025 at 5:04 PM
Really unfortunate to me how quickly the idea of even asking this question just disappeared from public conversation

It's still sort of controversial among sober folks, especially in hardcore AA circles (a notion that it is a "slippery slope"), but it's helpful for folks like my partner (who still drinks occasionally but respects my need to not have alcohol in the house, but also still sometimes just wants a beer)
November 18, 2025 at 1:06 AM
Very much a game changer for people in recovery who nonetheless have positive feelings about craft beer

Also given how ubiquitous alcohol/beer is at social events, it's nice to have a drink in your hand to "feel normal" or head off questions for people early in sobriety especially

Paul Flart Mall Cop

(is that anything)

All of this just elides the fact that for a lot of us (I’ll speak for myself and say my lens on this is as a queer person), we don’t get to ignore cultural issues because *cultural issues as defined by this debate are our entire fucking lives*
November 16, 2025 at 6:06 PM
It is *comically all-in* on the *very worst iteration* of what this would look like! It would be impressive if it wasn't so awful
November 16, 2025 at 1:40 PM
I agree that it doesn't do anything but people who don't know anything about politics still hear "senior fellow at the Center for American Progress" and it sounds important, which lends fake credibility to people who have done more to torch the Democratic Party brand than anyone who is not elected
November 16, 2025 at 1:38 PM
November 16, 2025 at 1:13 AM
Absolutely (and I mean this sincerely) the fuck not
November 16, 2025 at 12:57 AM
Why would you even put this out into the universe
November 16, 2025 at 12:55 AM
I remember an article while back about why ambulance rides were so costly and it was like "ambulance rides were once completely covered by health insurance. In 1983 the Reagan administration..." and I stopped reading while I pictured all of the difference things you could plug into that sentence
November 16, 2025 at 12:21 AM
How is this real
November 15, 2025 at 1:54 PM
Is the ongoing saga of the pierogi the funniest downstream consequence of all of this shit?
November 14, 2025 at 2:34 AM
This is why this is clearly the worst ownership group in the league. Say what you want about Matt Ishbia (or whoever else), at least it is clear that he enjoys and follows basketball and thus understands the vague outline of what fan sentiment is likely to be.
