Congrats!

My first day with ADHD meds at age 28, I sat in a QUIET room, and worked for 2 hours straight.

No music, no fidgeting, no getting sucked into my phone, no tears.

My ADHD meds are the best mood regulation tool I have. I truly believe they do more for my depression than even my SSRIs.

- and that there are other ways of thinking about language, one of which is that it isn’t just - or even primarily - its structure.

Also, AGI is a nonsense bogeyman being used to distract from the very real harms today. We’re getting gaslit with linear algebra for $ and clout

(5) Makes an expandable means for censorship available to those in power who want to use it. Project 2025 is clear - they want to block more than “adult” content. They’d block LGBTQ content, and atheist content, and political dissent. And they want to block it for adults, too. We can’t give an inch.

(4a) Removes access to critical medical and social information for vulnerable groups. In several states in the US, LGBTQ content is considered adult content and would be locked behind age verification. Info about sexual abuse is, too. Minors who NEED that info will be legally barred from getting it.

(4) Allow a centralized authority to decide what is appropriate for children. Regardless of a parent’s philosophy, they no longer get to choose what their kid is allowed to access. It doesn’t let parents decide that their 7 year old needs supervision, but their 17 year old can be trusted online.

(3) Remove children’s access to SAFE adults on the Internet, leaving them with only “child-safe” areas (which exploitative adults will still enter), and legally non-compliant portions of the Internet (where exploitative adults will be congregating, and safe adults would theoretically avoid).

Privacy-violating practices to “protect minors” like age verification:

(1) Explicitly connect vulnerable adults’ identities to their online activity, putting them at risk of leaks and harassment

(2) Move “undesirable” behavior to under-moderated environments that are less safe for people to access

I don’t know about you, but Google certainly doesn’t require me to send them my photo ID and scan my face.

Until a few years ago, the idea of being required to share your personal info with online corporations was unheard of.

“It protects minors” is not a good argument for it because it _doesn’t_

I’m also directing state agencies to review their data collection, sharing, and retention policies to ensure they are protecting the privacy and safety of all residents consistent with Washington’s values and the law.
