Big tech corporations are taking our money and attention. It's exhausting. If you feel tired, but don't know how to start breaking away, it's OK. Get simple steps to start at tiredof.tech

NGL, I would be a little embarrassed as a 42 y/o to have my Big Business Plans stalled until my pops could give it the OK.

Anyway, this holiday I’ll be doing normal people things like watching library DVDs in my $20 player from Mercari! 10/10 recommend (that … not the biz buyout with dad thing)

@eff.org out here making it easier to understand the complicated hoops that Big Tech is asking us to all jump through!
AMA Alert! We launched EFF.org/Age, our Age Verification Resource hub, and want to talk to you about it. We’ll be on Reddit's r/privacy today, on 12/16, and on 12/17 to help you resist this censorship and surveillance nightmare. www.reddit.com/r/privacy/c...

If you have an iPhone or iPad, the Unwatched app is one of the best I’ve ever used — you can “subscribe” to any YouTube channel without logging in to a Google account, queue your videos to watch, and there are NO ADS. Super easy to try if you’re feeling tired of YT! apps.apple.com/us/app/unwat...

My plans for Black Friday: swim at the YMCA, eat some leftover pie, get cozy on the couch and read. If I buy anything it might be an upgrade to my @proton.me account so I can further disentangle from Google!

Nostalgia for 2022, anyone? While it would be cool if there were a way to remove the ‘AI slop’ from the current internet, going a few years back in time ain’t a bad idea either of you’re tired of the AI side of tech today.

Want to stop shopping on Amazon less this holiday season? It feels hard, I know! Taking a baby step is a good way to start - try turning off auto-ship, spending less on kindle with Bookbub, or getting audiobooks on Chirp! (Not an ad 😊)

The vicious cycle of monopolization:

1) Corporations argue that their growth is just part of the free market.
2) Use their monopoly power to gouge consumers.
3) Take a portion of their profits to make political donations.
4) Lobby against antitrust enforcement.
5) Repeat.

Keeping your perfectly fine, older device isn't "device hoarding" — it's expecting Big Tech to make products that aren't full of planned obsolescence, protecting your wallet, and caring for the environment.

Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever and it's costing the economy
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever before, and while it may be consumer smart, it comes at a cost to work productivity and the U.S. economy.
