“Libraries are a cornerstone of democracy, where information is free and equally available to everyone. People tend to take that for granted, and they don’t realize what is at stake when that is put at risk.”

Trump bragged that he had made “200 deals” on trade and tariffs in a recent interview, but when pressed for details, two members of his cabinet could not name a single country that has agreed to one of Trump’s alleged deals.

Trump refuses to say which countries agreed to those deals.

Such a liar.

Tonight I quoted a city commissioner’s exact words back to him—and he clutched his pearls and accused me of slander and “salacious character assassination.” Sir, it’s called accountability. Look it up. #LocalPolitics #YouSaidItNotMe #sitdownandletthegrownupstalk #advocateforlibraries

Today is International Day of Happiness, but with everything that’s going on in the world it’s hard to be happy at times.
I have to believe there will be better and brighter days, so let's do the best we can to get each other through these ones.

More and more, library administrators are facing this fight—and it’s utterly exhausting. But the bravery of those who stand firm in the face of pressure cannot be overstated. Library leaders must defend intellectual freedom, even when it comes at the cost of their jobs. It shouldn’t be this way..
