"Memories of growing up on a South Bristol council estate in the 1960s and 70s. Personal stories, animation and photographs that capture the humour, resilience and sense of community that defined working-class life during my childhood.”
I decided against narrating, if the imagery does not explain I have failed. So decided on music that dances with the imagery.

The aim was a short animation to explain my process of how I construct the images of my 1960s childhood.

Not Ai. Low Res

Crochet with Nanny in the 1970s.
Colours to reflect the 70s. Everything was orange, brown and green!
(Horrible quality to keep it in under 100MB).
Not Ai.

Who remembers this! Old jumpers and cardis were recycled in this way, unravelled and rewound into skeins for reuse. Always useful to have a spare child about to sit with their hands out haha. The honour went to the youngest!

My brain refuses to believe that this is a painting, and not paper.

The 1970s all about crochet! I was taught by my grandmother in the 70's...

Low res. I do not use Ai, simply because I enjoy the process of digital drawing, well any drawing. I wanted the animation to fit with that of the 60's and 70's. Yes the scowly faced one was me!
The living room & kitchen I recreated from memory of my grans house.
