Most healthcare research is done by university research departments with grant funding from the US government, not for-profit companies. And the Trump admin is taking away much of that research grant funding. I’m interested in deep thinking about the US Healthcare system, and this isn’t that. (2)

For the most part I find that I agree with you, but on this particular point I don’t. All of the issues you raise exist whether healthcare is paid by insurance companies or the government. Ultimately it comes down to whether you think healthcare works better as a form of-profit business or not. (1)

Donald Trump is a criminal.
His father was a criminal.
His grandfather was a criminal, which is why he had to leave Germany to come to America and open a house of prostitution.

Jeffries is no Pelosi, that’s for sure. What a remarkably bad framing.

Strange that Reuters treated this as something Trump even has the power to do. He doesn’t, so why are they just repeating his fantasy.

In 1945, the US Army put out a training manual intended to help rank and file soldiers spot incipient fascism in the US. One of the telltale signs that one was dealing with a fascist was that they called everyone to their left "a communist." bsky.app/profile/seth...
The third fascistic tactic to watch out for is their tendency to label anyone they disagree with who is to their left "a Communist." Fascists claim that they alone can save their nations from "the communist menace." Anyway, the 2024 GOP platform contains the phrase "Christ-hating communists."

So, so disappointed in my Senator. Why does he think the House will take up extending ACA subsidies? Why does he think Trump will sign it? This just shows Trump and Republicans that their inclination to think of the Democrats as weak is correct, and they’ll cave on anything.

Just another Democratic gutless wonder. Does she really believe that the House will take up a vote on extending the ACA subsidies? How naive is she? The people of her state will be hurt by this.

King is an independent who caucuses with the Dems. The rest of them are sort of a hot mess, and at least three of them are retiring. Sad day for democracy and the Democratic Party.

Democratic leadership caves, as usual. Unbelievable that they think this is a good idea. So disgusted right now, and angry, can’t think straight.
