Well, this is a little concerning...😳

Congress has *got* to get its act together on this soon, but I sadly have little confidence that it will. Regulation is urgently needed to ensure the public is protected and that AI products are developed responsibly.

AI friendships claim to cure loneliness. Some are ending in suicide.
Researchers have long warned of the dangers of building relationships with chatbots. But millions of people spend hours a day bonding with AI companions.

Good @washingtonpost.com op-ed by Charles Lane on a recent appearance by Angela Merkel in DC.

While I will always deeply admire her “wir schaffen das” moment on welcoming refugees in 2015, much of the rest of her time in office leaves much to be desired…

The breathless rollercoaster ride that was today's events in #SouthKorea reminds me most of that crazy day in 2023 when Yevgeny Prigozhin was leading that column of Wagner mercenaries speeding towards Moscow, only for it to all end ~7 hours after it started.

This important post by @dandrezner.bsky.social should serve as a potent reminder to us all of how the weakening of America’s education system - public education and higher education - negatively impacts our national security.

Education needs to be considered a national security issue!

71% of Americans believe the economy is rigged against them. They’re not wrong.

A truly insane threat to make to two of our closest allies and partners.

Making good on it would have extraordinary consequences for *consumers* that would ripple across North America…
Breaking News: President-elect Donald Trump said that he would impose a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico on his first day in office, a move that would scramble North American supply chains and impose heavy costs on businesses around the continent.
