Writer and attorney in PDX, grew up in Ga, where, in the 4th grade, I won a watermelon eating contest.
Today seems like a great day to reflect on the disastrous consequences of policy makers acting from fear and anger.

I’ve been trying to bike in some new places before our second kid comes (any day). Worth the effort.

I’ve worried for years about our outdated grid in light of increased demand. We also saw a huge spike in our electricity bill in the last year. This thing Google is doing looks like something that could serve Oregon well. blog.google/feed/ctc-glo...

When I want PBOT to come, I want it to be quick. And may all my neighbors’ endings be happy and all of our potholes filled.
Well, that’s one way to get the PBOT to come quickly.

Guerilla graffiti artists drew phallic images around two protuberant potholes in Portland

By Monday, in a happy ending for the neighbors, the graphic decorations were gone and the potholes were filled in.

Winning pro football player: I just want to thank god and my mom and the all these guys right here.

Winning cyclist: my competitors are my only companions in this grueling march through life. Only we understand each other’s suffering. I am only sorry that I won instead of them.

PEOPLE WITH A PLATFORM, I am doing what I can to make you aware that THERE IS NO REASON FOR YOU TO REFER TO THAT LEGISLATION AS THE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL OR THAT FLORIDIAN CONCENTRATION CAMP AS ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ. Please stop carrying fascists’ water. Thank you for your attention to this matter

Seems like a day to remember Cato: thieves of private property pass their lives in chains; thieves of public property in riches and luxury.

Hard to believe I’m old enough to watch a president use a bullshit justification for bombing a Middle Eastern country that I witnessed a previous president use.

My two-year-old’s grocery store offers food polar bears (made of raisins) for five many. The trouble is they don’t offer California raisins, but rather only raisin raisins from the doctor and those raisins cannot play any instruments.

Obviously a fascist regime trying to consolidate power with, in part, public voilence against opposing party electeds will attempt to reframe those situations as a response to unpatriotic agitation by the victim. A media that doesn’t actively push against that framing will help the fascists.

Yes, “disaster” is the correct word – this is a public health catastrophe. The pressure for him to resign should begin tonight, and continue until it happens. Nothing else should be in front of this. Go to a 19th century cemetery anywhere in this country to know why.
RFK Jr.‘s extreme anti-vax views — and his related conflicts of interest — were a huge problem during his confirmation process.

So he promised not to change the vaccine advisory panel.

Today, he fired every single expert on that panel. It's a public health disaster.
RFK Jr. ousts entire CDC vaccine advisory committee
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has removed every member of a scientific committee that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on how to use vaccines.

The local elementary school is having a book parade through the neighborhood this morning. I counted at least 4 armed police officers directing traffic. Why do we thing we need men with guns to direct traffic for a neighborhood school parade?

Pitiful that at this late stage media is reporting on the controversy of the president accepting an enormous bribe from a foreign head of state or framing it as an ethical issue rather than identifying it as the glaring constitutional violation that it plainly is.

What he said today won’t mean anything tomorrow.
I think the knee jerk normalizing press wants to definitively say, "Trump rules out third term" much more than he himself wants to say it. Even in the exchange the flurry of pieces are hanging on, he tosses in enough hems and haws so as to not depress "Trump 2028" hat sales.
