In 2019 my bestie moved from NYC to SF by driving. (His departure helped ours; NYC was less kind a place to live once he wasn’t there.) He stopped where Matthew Shepard was found and we held a brief moment of silence for him on a video call.

The hippeastrum (inherited from my late mother-in-law) began blooming yesterday. In four years this is the first time the red and white has flowered, and instead of one stem as we’ve had the last few years, there are at least 11
