If you want a palate cleanser, check used book sites for Lady With a Spear, by Eugenie Clark. Just pure science-hell-yeah joy from someone who got the credit she deserved in her lifetime.

Well as an evolutionary biologist and an endomembrane biologist, in different former lives, I’d feel embarrassed making such an argument from hand-wavy first principles. I does stick to my general rule that academic arguments tend to be either strong, or loud.

Congrats! The site has been essential almost since day one. On the occasion of darth Vader’s recent passing, I haven’t forgotten the Italy ratfck. There’s a lot of good work that never gets published.

The default intensity histogram in Fiji has a linear Y-axis, so you can’t easily see the intensity distribution of s fluorescence image. By default I mean the easy to get auto-updating one you get when you open brightness/contrast adjustment.

Had this exact experience with push button tally counters! The ancient bakelite-and-metal ones work forever, but the lighter mostly-plastic ones had so many errors I had to return three or four in a row.
