More photos from New Zealand last year. A day in Franz Josef / Waiau, went for a walk in the valley to get a view of the glacier.

hackers took over Notepad++ update servers and distributed a malicious update for the app. The update servers were vulnerable for roughly six months 😬 www.theverge.com/tech/872462/...
Notepad++ updates got hijacked for months and could have spied for China
The hack was resolved in a December update.

Bad day. Watch me compound my tiredness by foolishly having another coffee that won't fix today but will disrupt tonight's sleep making tomorrow even worse.

I am a bit over being thrown under the bus by the bus driver who is then surprised and annoyed there are people under the bus that they put there.

I thought this was going to be a short blog post, but I fell down the rabbit hole of processing and scanning film 😅

Me: I love shooting 250D and processing it in ECN-2

Also me: I hate cleaning up the negatives on respooled film and getting rid of the last of the dots from remjet …

The Worst Devices of CES 2026
At the Consumer Electronics Show every year, manufacturers pitch their products hoping to convince us that they have invented the future. But will their vision make our lives better, or lead humanity down a dark and twisted path? Welcome to the fourth annual Worst in Show awards! Our panel of dystopia experts have reviewed this year’s batch of hype and have… concerns. From easily hackable lawn mowers to $300 earbuds that will fail in two years, these are products that jeopardize our safety, encourage wasteful overconsumption, and normalize privacy violations. Our judges considered five questions to select the category winners: How bad is this product? Are the problems with this gadget innovatively bad? What is the global impact if the technology is widely adopted? How much worse is this than previous iterations of similar technology? How much do the negatives outweigh the positives? Phoenix II at ISO125 in ECN-2 goes pretty hard. Didn't make a complete mess of this roll this time. #Photography

Well, it works. Rollei B35 with Kentmere Pan 200.
January 8, 2026 at 8:35 AM
My dad's old Rollei B35. It felt a little gummed up, but firing the shutter and shifting all the dials it seemed to come good. Put a short roll of Kentmere 200 in it and stood in the backyard. Will process the film in a few days and see how it is.

If you need a tiny customisable router that you want to be able to make do things it shouldn't - I can recommend a replacement for an old EdgeRouter-X that gave up the ghost.

Australia proving to be just shit at covering terrible events. Interviewing victims who don't have the support they need. Making states then end the statement with "but that isn't confirmed." Naming people who shouldn't be. Fuck.
