This is an important book that you should probably read.
It's pub day for The Pacific Circuit, my book. For Bluesky, I wanted to lay out some of the arguments in the book, and what they might say about the present moment of trade war and technological development. So, let's start with: what is the Pacific Circuit?

This is very excellent.
Of all the tech and design thinkers we've had so far, Ursula Franklin is maybe the closest to my heart. Going back to the wellspring for this one.

“With this, we have arrived at a picture of human intelligence than runs far beyond instrumental reason. We might call it, in contrast, ecological reason—a view of intelligence that stresses both indeterminacy and the interactive relationship between ourselves and our environments.”
Fascinating, long essay by Evgeny Morozov exploring how the history of AI gives us a technology designed for instrumental reason, and how some alternative choices could have given—and still could give—us very different and far better forms of human-centred AI: www.bostonreview.net/forum/the-ai...

Anyone with even a passing interest in music, or data analytics, or AI should definitely read this book. The tech side is fascinating, but the joy of music is what makes it soar!

Just a terrific book.
If you like your human culture ground into low-intention AI mush, good news: you're going to get a lot of that.

If you're interested in how data and algorithms might work for curiosity and joy, instead, you might like my book.
