I mean, look at the case of the white Canadian lady who was detained at the border entering the United States, put it in an ICE detention facility where she slept in a crowded cell on the floor, and released 12 days later with no explanation. Why would anyone visit the United States?

Also when the loonie is low, it means your equity in your US home goes further in buying Canadian property. Even if you’re earning a bit less, you’ll save on housing.

Lots of mid/sr people would do better in the US than Canada— possibly including me.
