I've got a History degree and work at an environmental testing lab: my resume sounds like something Verbal Kint would make up. Rich in cats and books. Mandolin player. Crocheter. DFTBA. Coastal Georgia. He/Him
I'm sure I drank Yoo-Hoo as a kid, but I remember drinking it as part of a hangover ritual/remedy in my 20s.

My book club just read the Shining and as soon as it mentions the pressure creep in the boiler, you know how it's going to have to end. We called it Chekov's Boiler

Mine is a Del Toro as well. My immediate thought at the end of Nightmare Alley was that it was the best movie I will never watch again.

Maybe 'essential animal' works here? Nice double meaning; an animal of one's essence or an animal of importance in its own right.

I got so many compliments on my Litter Box of History shirt at the farmers and art market a couple Saturdays ago! Tried to steer folks towards you, thanks for your work

It took me a little work to find it. There should be a link that says "past issues". In my browser it was at the top right, next to the subscribe button. Part 7 is linked from there

I don't know how universal it is, but in my city there's a locksmith who sharpens that kind of thing. It's also not too hard to learn, but you probably want to practice on a pocket knife to get the hang of it

There's a long article in Strange Horizons called "Freshly Remember'd: Kirk Drift" that breaks down the difference between actual Kirk and popular imagination Kirk.

I'm glad you're enjoying it, it's so good! But if you'd just wanted the astronaut-spy part, I didn't want to assign 2 books of build-up. I hate recommending media-with-homework. It's a strength of the series that you can jump in at any point and not be lost.

There used to be a company in my town called A-Team Plumbing. Their slogan was "I pity the stool".

Love and solidarity from the South, where for whatever reason we do that a solid month earlier. I've already been called in for my first parent-teacher conference. Live from the future: Y'all can do it!
