Oh, and crosswords, though I didn't really do them as a kid and only learned to love them later. But I know my dad did them.

Not that I don't think news is important. I do, in fact, and read it frequently. But I do not think I ever once read the actual news as a kid, nor do I really remember my parents talking about it much, outside of elections, though I assume they did read some of it.

It's fine to be skeptical of this, but some folks don't understand what this information means.

It may sound silly, but oceanic freedom of navigation is predicated on "flying the flag of a sovereign state." Any ship caught flying false colors can be legally fucked with by any state's navy.

I think there, at least, you're just dealing with a very elaborate pen name, bordering on performance art. It's like asking what you call Elvira, Pee Wee Herman, Father Guido Sarducci, Mister T (though in this last case it is very fluid and unknowable), etc.

Worth noting that he later said Elvish languages changed over time, despite having many of the same speakers for that time period, because the Elves would decide to change their languages together for fun
