Did we lose manufacturing or unions? The push for reshoring manufacturing seems at odds with the historical position the Right has had with unions.

It’s not so much that manufacturing disappeared from the US economy. It’s that that level of broad economic participation disappeared from the US economy. No one has been able to remake that model, where broadly attainable expertise was needed so widely.
