"It's always difficult to tell midstream exactly where the free-agent market is. It's a little more helpful to look at it in retrospect. Every year I've been around the game, at some point in the offseason there is a cry of inflationary free agency, and then at some point in the offseason there's this worry that a bunch of players aren't going to be paid what they deserve or have jobs. This seems to be the natural cycle of the baseball offseason, and I imagine we'll experience both of those over the course of the next few months.

Loved how much Ryne Stanek appreciated Sean Manaea's outing, especially the last part of it:

Even when the big moments happen, he got out of that with the double play. The craziest thing is you have that huge burst of adrenaline and emotion in that situation, to be able to come back out and execute at a high level, that’s something that I don’t want to get lost. That was an absolutely incredible display of keeping your emotions in check. I don't know if the fans at home or in the stands will appreciate that enough. It is so hard to have that emotional release and go back out and still keep yourself under control. That was, to me, the coolest moment of the game, by far. I loved it. “It’s hard to ask him to do more. That was six zeroes. It’s hard to ask him to do more — and he fucking did it. That was awesome. That’s the shit that gets me fired up.
