The hiking trail at Phu Pha Toep is beautiful and rugged. For independent trekking, this might just be the best national park in Thailand. And even considering parks where you can trek with rangers leading you, Phu Pha Toep is still one of the best.

Twenty-eight years since my last visit to Luang Prabang. It's no longer the bucolic big village it was back then, but it's still a great place to visit.
