I have a weakness for isometric management games, obscure simulators, irrelevant details of long-dead memory addressing schemes and listening to "The Legend Of Xanadu" more times than is strictly age-appropriate.
Presented, as is the style, without context.

"we're going to have an adult party, you can stay up as late as you want playing on the computer as long as you stay upstairs and don't disturb us"

Partner claimed there was nothing good in the 7" collection. I would defend, but instead I'll just post the 5 things at the front of Singles Box B and let you judge.

All the new achievements in the expansion set me back for a while, but once more I have the true Factorio perfect game.

You know how some people take extended breaks from social media for healthy, soul-enriching purposes, often involving the touching of grass and the refreshing feeling of not being exposed to negativity and anger?

Oops.

Definitely not been massively influenced by the rare moments I got to play Ridge Racer: Full Scale, honest.

First Pulp record I bought, and latest. I have not spoiled myself by listening to anything other than the advance singles on streaming so it's going to be a proper first listen all the way through on physical media.

(Well. One break to flip sides.)

"Media same age as playback device" challenge (if you ignore the era-inappropriate amplification chain)

My weekend productivity has mostly gone towards adding a variety of drawbar trailers for early 20th century trucks in Timberwolf's UK Road Vehicles. (This might have swallowed less of the weekend had I not forgotten how to avoid consuming all available Action2s when adding trailers)

YOU CANNOT STOP ME. (Said with the confidence of a man who knows his geographically closest follower lives at least 15 minutes' walk away)

Oh thanks Duolingo, now I have that Miko Mission track in my head.

Well, so much for cleaning out the second singles box so there would be plenty of room for further expansion.

"Why is it taking an age to get through 1984 Matt? Why?"

(Also possibly not helped by me having to drop what I was doing and *immediately* order an original 7" copy of "Come Back" by The Mighty Wah!)

Name the official Queen video/TOTP appearance...

This morning's workplace soundtrack. The singles from this were decently big hits - Runaway Boys and Rock This Town on the hype sticker were both #9, and Stray Cat Strut would reach #11 in May '81.

Some of this might be familiar to those who played Alley Cat.

I found my other childhood I-Spy book. Predictably enough, "Cars". Good thing I already collected these, as good luck finding any of the 5-pointers in it outside of a Festival of the Unexceptional these days. The most likely here now is the Beetle!

Box gone through. Surprisingly small discard pile although I did allow a lot of forgettable '80s soft rock a free pass on the basis it was in nice condition and had a picture sleeve.

Main reasons for rejection are poor condition, duplicates, and that I can't stand Anthony Newley.

You'd be disappointed if you cracked open a junk shop box of records and *didn't* find it, wouldn't you?
January 29, 2025 at 3:37 PM
I guess that solves the "where do you hold it without getting your oily fingerprints all over the grooves"?

The usual "ah yeah, that's why they released it in a novelty format" applies upon listening, sadly.

What the hell this is a boomer Facebook post in vinyl form. Except it's from 1974 so I guess it's saying the years the boomer Facebook memes claim are so great were actually awful and the 1930s were where it was at?

In nice condition so it gets a pass for historical interest.

"Hey Marge, remember when we used to make out to this hymn?"

I'm going to call more boxes of unsorted records cack before I delve into them. This is going well. Or it would be if the aim of this exercise hadn't been to free up some storage space.

Strong results early on. A bit noisy, but "death by Dansette" is the natural state of a '60s pop single in the wild. I have a feeling I've been through this end of the box before. There's a surprising amount of Jam, Elvis Costello and that sort of thing.
