Fall of 2007, I listened in to my employer's first (of many) "reductions in force" from the maternity ward, looking at my 1-day-old first born...he'll be out of the house next year and I'm just now worrying a tiny bit less about job security...

Also, a surprising amount of people really hate when data-driven conclusions spoil their uninformed narratives and world view. People with otherwise impressive resumes that demonstrate high-level knowledge and critical thinking ability seem to make an exception for anything political

Noticed this too but it may be more reflective of people joining in unprecedented numbers, and all saying something similar...basically what's "trending" is "hey, it's nice over here," and everyone else who just joined agreeing...suspect that will die down but new here too so who knows!
