Pope Francis really brought behavior and belonging back to the mainstream, a focus that is really needed right now. You will see political and religious pundits focus on Francis’s ideology, when really Francis was much more concerned with how Catholics interacted with each other and the wider world.

This isn’t just a Protestant thing either, I find many catholic institutions focus much too much on belief and negative aspects of behavior (“don’t do this, don’t do that”, etc.), and University of Notre Dame is like the only belonging many cultural Catholics get (I exaggerate but my point stands)

There are 3 Bs in religion: Behavior, Belief, and Belonging. In the USA especially, I think that belief is focused on much more than it needs to be, by both religious and non-religious people. And belonging is really missing from the popular religious conception.

The Yazidis for example believe in a god that presents themself as a peacock, but the ritual and community is much more important to that religion than the belief itself

- 6 track Tunnel to Brooklyn from SI (or 4 tracks with the Verrazano Narrows Bridge serving subway)
- Extend Path to EWR
- Extend Path to Meadowlands via seacaucus

I’m just dreaming at this point

- Build new tunnel to Grand Central and through run some trains
- New tunnel under Hudson to WTC. Or just take half of the Holland Tunnel for rail. That is a station without trains
- rebuild the original Penn station head house
- new tunnel under east river to Atlantic terminal from WTC

- New station at Long Island City or Hunterspoint Ave for Penn station bound trains
- Stagger tracks into two levels to increase platform size
- Overhead electrify to Ronkonkoma
- Combine NJT and LIRR into one service
- Demolish Madison square garden, and move it to Madison square (or elsewhere)
