Pleased to see the scarce dune loving spider Marpissa nivoyi at Horsey dunes yesterday. Long known from the North Norfolk coast but just a single record from the East Norfolk dunes until now.

A nice fresh Yellow Horned in my moth trap this morning. Widespread in woodland but scarce in coastal east Norfolk, only my second record in 11 years at Horsey.

Syntormon metathesis is a small dolichopid fly which was only recognised as British a few years ago, but appears to be sparsely present in fenland habitat in the east of England. It also appears, unusually, to be winter active judging by this female near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk today.

For those dipterists pining for the buzzing of summer wings, here's quite a scarce muscid fly, a coastal sand dune specialist, this one from Winterton Dunes in Norfolk in August - Coenosia minutalis. @ukmuscidae.bsky.social

Aphids aren't everyone's idea of excitement, but this one has cool eyes on stalks. This is Caricosipha paniculatae, found on sedge at Sweetbriar Marshes in Norwich today and no doubt very under-recorded. Thanks to James Emerson for the ID.

I came across hundreds of Cut-leaved Teasel yesterday at Farrow's Wood near Acle, a very statuesque plant that I'd never seen before.
