Breckland Landscape Recovery getting it just right. Ambitious, but achievable. Complex enough to hit objectives for nature, but straightforward enough to actually be delivered. Enthusiastic, but realistic leadership. It’s conservation Baby Bear’s porridge. Well done them 👏👏

Syntormon metathesis is a small dolichopid fly which was only recognised as British a few years ago, but appears to be sparsely present in fenland habitat in the east of England. It also appears, unusually, to be winter active judging by this female near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk today.

For those dipterists pining for the buzzing of summer wings, here's quite a scarce muscid fly, a coastal sand dune specialist, this one from Winterton Dunes in Norfolk in August - Coenosia minutalis. @ukmuscidae.bsky.social

Aphids aren't everyone's idea of excitement, but this one has cool eyes on stalks. This is Caricosipha paniculatae, found on sedge at Sweetbriar Marshes in Norwich today and no doubt very under-recorded. Thanks to James Emerson for the ID.
