Why? Aren't there many topics in philosophy that other people are interested in, but you are not? Seems to be a very normal aspect of the field.

although there are a few quirks in forallx Calgary, including translating sentences with "either... or" that sound really exclusive in English with a disjunction (inclusive or)

I don't teach medical ethics regularly, but the one time I taught it, I included the violinist paper, even though I personally don't like the paper at all, to a degree that makes it hard to teach it well. 'How to teach views you think are very weak' might be a related issue (that I should work on).

I think this is a very real problem, and I don't have a great solution for it myself. I don't assign any Carnap in 100-level philosophy of science, but if a student later took another class and didn't know who Carnap is, I'd feel bad, I guess. Maybe including 'history of X' is a partial fix.

It's easy to have only a vague (and pejorative) notion like that when so many appeals to 'pragmatism' just boil down to tactical shrugging.
