The heuristics are intended to help us assess the usability of subtitles, i.e. how easy it is to follow them and the subtitled programme as a whole. I created the heuristics based on an earlier list of translation heuristics, and they account for things like readability and the audiovisual setting.

Hello, bluesky! The skies over Finland were decidedly grey today, but it was comforting to see a few hours of daylight as we approach the darkest day of the year. Looking forward to Sunday, when the day is one minute longer.
