Looks like @Herts_Highways have got serious and supersized the bollards as large planters! Though the first car I saw encounter this decided after a few moments careful thought to mount the pavement and drive round them...

...apparently you need a BX1600 for that but we bought BVX1600 instead :-(

Sad to report that the remaining bollard gave it's life today in defence of the already wide open road so quite what kind of idiot managed to hit it is unclear...

Actually I think the house in the 1871 census is that farm on the map...
