I believe the demo is still available on Steam!

Okay, I think I see what you're aiming for. Guess I'll just have to wait for the next update.

The superintelligent AI with a 45% skill rating is only going to have to roll dice for superintelligent AI level challenges, same way that a human is only going to have to roll for a human-level challenge.

So in Mothership, the weakest spaceship-grade weapon deals 1d5 damage to other ships and 1d5 x 1000 damage to a human. But instead of notating it like that, they just say MDMG for "megadamage". That's the sort of scaling I'm talking about.

Yeah, this is where scaling & scope comes into play; the hyperintelligent AI with a 45% in a skill is scaled to other hyperintelligent AI and sequestered off in the module where the character options are all on that tier.

The under the hood mechanic is the same, the dressing is different.

I mean, they've been extremely up front about that ever since Hecate was revealed in the first trailer.

Core resolution systems are pretty easy to scale up and down; a human and a spaceship in Mothership will have different names for their stats, but the underlying dice roll remains d% + skill roll-under with advantage / disadvantage.

Precisely. Booklets, zines, pamphlets, tokens printed on cardstock. Game material as curation, rather than hoarding.

That's like, an anti-problem. That's a design solution. That's solving multiple problems at once.

Chess pieces for enemy miniatures, representing different tactical roles, boom, done, point at a rook and say 'this orc is heavily armored"

Conjure your past, as once you were, printing pdfs at the library and making MTG proxies out of a bicycle deck, shitty jpgs, and tape. If people want to play a game, they will find a way to make it work.

This doesn't make the near forecast less ugly, but longterm I foresee a pivot back towards DIY

I have a feeling in my gut that people are going to pivot to "print at home" games pretty quickly. Still going to be ugly in the short term as people get caught in the mess.
