I'm just a lowly art historian, but in moments like these I always think back to one early sign of Trump's wanton, pointless destructiveness: his demolition of the priceless & irreplaceable Art Deco relief sculptures on facade of the Bonwit Teller building, which he tore down to build Trump Tower

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

On a media diet today, but logged in anyway, hoping to see pithy comments re our incoming horror show. First I see that the great Cecile Richards has died. We were best buds for 10 days In Mexico on a union women's trip there in the late '90s. Then I see a Nazi salute. I'm so unbelievably numb.

Basically, there aren't any Christmas traditions I feel I've missed not being raised, well, Christian, except for building gingerbread houses. My friends indulged me, and since we all live in SE Baltimore, we created rowhouses from scratch. We have a rooftop deck, but didn't manage any formstone.

It's been a very, very long time since high school. I've been wracking my brain, and it seems that I only know people who had been kicked out of Gilman.

Great to have another excuse to visit the Waters.
This painting of Moses and his Ethiopian wife, as mentioned in the Bible (Numbers 12:1), was painted by Flemish artist Jacob Jordaens and is currently on display at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, on loan from the Rubenshuis Museum in Antwerp, Belgium. Worth a visit!

Read yesterday & it's still resonating:

Trump is cholera. His hate, his lies – it’s an infection that’s in the drinking water now. Our information system is London’s stinking streets before the Victorian miracle of sanitation. We fixed that through engineering.

I'm trying to remember what tidbit I'd give if I ever made it to Jeopardy and had to introduce myself. I guess I'd say that I collect paint by numbers. I have so many of them, in what I guess is now called a "gallery wall," that they seem like wallpaper.
