Had a lot of stuff going on the last few months, but seeing all the #DEFCON posts and the FOMO have been a great motivator.
I’m going to start being more active here, getting more involved, with a goal of attending my first DEFCON as a security professional next year.

Brother in law had a seemingly failing external HDD back at Thanksgiving. Finally got it to mount and told him to buy an SSD ASAP to transfer everything over. He had EVERYTHING on this drive.
6 months later, he’s texting me telling me it won’t recognize the drive and when it does, it appears empty

This is the move. The more they can get you to believe, the higher chance it has of becoming a reality. Also, they’re tearing through the government at top speed to flood the news cycle so you can’t keep up. Don’t believe anything they say.
I am really frustrated that the press is discussing the destruction of USAID as something that has happened rather than an illegal action that will likely be undone in two weeks when courts tell the world that it was illegal.

Can someone explain to me what credentials Elon Musk holds that keeps govt. officials from laughing in his face when he goes around demanding access to things?
As far as I can tell he’s not been elected or appointed to anything, other than heading up a department that doesn’t technically exist?
