#Gemini generated podcast summary of my JMP on alcohol & marijuana location & sales. Pretty accurate; caveat we cannot confirm co-purchase @ the consumer level. Also, did not use AI in creating the paper. Thanks to #BrainTam #Google for creating it. JMP & audio found here: www.tomwilk.com/jmp

It was a pleasure attending the #AHEW at @umich.edu this year. It was a great opportunity to get in-depth exposure to cutting edge econometric work. Special thanks to @edwardnorton.bsky.social, #NickPapaGeorge, & many others for organizing & hosting a great workshop.

I wish JOE, Interfolio, and EconJobMarket could just remember that I am a Male, White, Non-Hispanic, non-Veteran, with no disability instead of having to answer the same 5 questions 200 times.

#EconSky #EconJobMarket As a public service, I am willing to take on the role of department chair for any university looking for a replacement. It's a sacrifice I know so few are willing to bear. I only require a tenured position as compensation...

#ASHEcon2026 I am organizing 2 sessions for conference in Minneapolis, MN June 7-10.
Looking for abstracts:
1) policy revolving around marijuana and alcohol use or co-use of illicit drugs
2) policy food/nutritional changes from drug decriminalization/legalization, or other impactful policy.

what signal should job candidates take from econ phd postings that are the same ad over the last three years? you're telling me that with the 600-1,000+ applications/year you received, you couldn't find 1 qualified and interested candidate? or is it something else? #Econsky #EconJobMarket

super excited about refereeing another paper for a prominent health econ journal. it was a rollercoaster of initial impressions when I first open the manuscript and see 91 pages, then see it's double spaced, then to realize there's about 50 pages of table, figures, and appendices!! :)

was tasked to put together some datasets from the Pulse survey. get 3 weeks in and a notice that it's no longer working due to the shutdown? like why did it work 3 min ago? is there a way around this? maybe it's tracking my IP or MAC address.

🚨NEW PAPER ALERT 🚨
Are suicides sensitive to small health events like seasonal allergies? More than 80 mil Americans have seasonal allergies, & these are getting worse as temperatures rise. We show that there are more suicides as pollen levels rise.

Woot!! I just got done with my first paper as reviewer #2. I was dreading being 'that' reviewer. Interesting paper and approach and I'm looking forward to seeing it published soon (if the revisions are done).

Been a productive summer: submitted 2 papers for publication (1 rejected but w/ good feedback after review) and 1 R&R w/ very positive aspects and little (but big) tasks to change. completed 2 manuscripts to be ready for submission soon, and attended 2 very informative conferences.

Tool has such a deep range of relevant songs, even 20-30 years later. Eulogy is befitting of Charlie Kirk and other like him. Grandstanding for meaningless ideology. youtu.be/6vc9Mz2tfHM?...

One of the great educators, scholars, and mentors of my field has left us. I was fortunate to know him and learn from him. Our world was a better place and I will miss him very much.
It is with great sadness that I learned today of the passing of my friend, mentor, and co-author Dr. Allen Goodman. Allen was an exceptional mentor and was kind, thoughtful, and supportive. I am passing his legacy on, teach the next generation of health economists.
