real-world example of a bottle I use called Bivo. A VT company Sells at stores like REI.

Bivo placed a $250,000 order with their manufacturer. normal tariff rates, pay $14,261. New tariff = $304,928 charge instead.
They’d have to retail their product around $100 per bottle just to stay afloat.

Trump is still lagging Herbert Hoover's five entries, and George W. Bush's four, although the way things are going, The Donald may soon claim the crown.

The best return days almost never come during sunny bull markets. They show up amid chaos. All 10 of the S&P 500’s biggest one-day gains occurred during bear markets — as did its 10 worst days. In fact, both extremes clustered in the darkest moments when the market was down at least 20% from peak.

speaking of broken records, Trump has actually managed to break several in the past few days. Here is a list of the five quickest 10% drops in stock-market value in U.S. history

Maybe some people in the WH that understand MATH. WTF WH appears to have gotten its constants wrong. In fact, ¼ is the elasticity of retail prices. The elasticity of imports is 0.945. If the correct number had been used, the tariff rates would all have been 10% -14%, not crazy pants numbers

S&P Futures starting to approach the GFC sell off levels.
Isreal running to the White House to make a deal at 2:30pm EST 4/7. If they can't get a deal markets will continue to fall.

White House press corps to explain how the new tariff rates were calculated:
total exports (xi) total imports (mi), "elasticity of import demand" (ε) and "elasticity of import prices" (φ). Problem one of them = 4, while the other = ¼, so they cancel out. Fancy-looking equation is just scam.

"Is it rising sun or a setting sun" - Ben Franklin, 1787
I can't think of a better metaphor for the state of our country right now than a ship named the S.S. United States being dragged out to sea, soon to be blown up and sitting at the bottom of the Gulf of "America".

wealth concentration among HNW households has doubled its investable assets from 27% in 2010 to an estimated 51% in 2023. Those with less than $100K in investable assets decreased from 6% to just 2% over the same period. >60 yrs old now control 75% of the nation's wealth, up from 50% 10yrs ago.
