Book of the week - King of Kings: The Iranian Revolution: A Story of Hubris, Delusion and Catastrophic Miscalculation, by Scott Anderson. Gripping, balanced, nuanced history of the fall of the last Shah of Iran (the sub-title sums up the argument pretty nicely).

Book of the week - A Day in the Life of Abed Salama: Anatomy of a Jerusalem Tragedy, by Nathan Thrall. One of the best books I've read on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, to understand its roots and its geography, the raw brutality and injustice of life under occupation.

Review of the book on intelligence analysis in Canada I co-wrote with @stephaniecarvin.bsky.social:
-"an insightful and useful book"
-"Canadian challenges at the intelligence analysis-policymaking interface are hardly unique, which is why non-Canadian audiences may find the book useful"

“Los hutíes han surgido en los últimos años como una potencia regional. Han demostrado, en particular, que tienen tanto la capacidad como la intención de perturbar significativamente el transporte marítimo en el mar Rojo”, subraya en conversación con este diario Thomas Juneau.

Iran-Israel ceasefire: This is a major victory for Israel and a humiliating defeat for Iran. The Islamic Republic's power and its credibility are both shattered.

We are in a new Middle East now - one in which the imbalance of power is clearly in favor of Israel.

So far, consistent with the scenario of Iran signalling it wants to avoid escalation: telegraph the strikes ahead to avoid casualties and minimize damage, and reduce the incentive for the US to hit back.
