Thistlebloom Farm was built in 1860. It has over 77 acres of mixed land, a house, 2 barns and a shed. It is located on Nipmuc and Pocumtuck land (aka Amherst, MA). Sometimes the farm and its current guardian have arguments.
This batch of eggs drying on a cotton towel is from a diversity of hens:
Darkest ones on the left and right = Cuckoo Marans hens
Dark one in the middle = Black Copper Marans
Super-white ones = Andalusian
Blue and green ones = Ameraucana
Medium browns = Red Star
Light buffs = Wyandotte

Egg diversity! The tiny one on the right side is a "pullet berry", aka a small egg produced by a pullet who's just starting to lay. We don't know who laid it, but we've never seen one quite that small before. Its shiny brown neighbor is from a French Black Copper Marans hen.
