Car culture dominating society is social murder.

Posts are mostly about the US, sometimes focused on parenting.

ha, I was thinking of you and about gas hookups as I read it, and then I saw you posted about both in succession.

Firefighters have told me some huge % of residential fires start on stoves and would be avoided with induction. Have you heard that?

I disagree with transit advocates ignoring Mamdani's mandate for fast and free buses to criticize him, in favor of their plan to build subways. But they do have a good plan.

Unlike the "urban planners, academics, business owners and activists" who killed the Beltline Rail that Atlanta voters wanted

I'm not familiar with Austin, but conceptually this is right and most AV critics ignore it. City govt that cares about safety (enough to listen to critics) should make cooperation for specific complaints a requirement for AVs to operate.

It's political, not a binary question of having AVs or not.

Is this chud attacking children driving a dually? Looks like a curve around the back there.

Yes, and if we want to avoid another administration like the current one, then we need an opposition party with better leadership than Dems have demonstrated ever since Obama took control of DHS.

yes exactly!

So many car regulations are unironic versions of the dril tweet, except these drivers aren't even going to work (unless they're legislators?)

(people were genuinely arguing this to me yesterday, in favor of eliminating emissions testing)

Like Obama's Trump jokes at the WHCA dinner, Biden excluding Musk from his EV event is sometimes used to explain Musk's politics.

That's silly, Biden was right to exclude Musk. But Biden was wrong to include Trump aligned car companies instead of ebike manufacturers.

This machine kills fascists.

because of @techconnectify.bsky.social I have to think about Costco selling a "laundry boost" powder to mix with detergent, that cannot be mixed with liquid detergent

yet they do not sell a powder detergent

it's so gross to walk across waste that an owner left on the ground, instead of bagging it up

Local law enforcement exercises discretion about when to support their (rich Republican) constituents over Federal law enforcement.

Both industries receive bipartisan support, which is another sign that Democratic incumbents do not see themselves as leaders of an opposition party. (this investigation is not limited to the current administration, but Feinstein and her ilk didn't care who was in the oval office)

Agreed. I'd add, a rebuilt structure in a destroyed neighborhood isn't the same. Even people who feel confident they can pay for this should consider what this means when others can't. When the area loses workers, friends, restaurants, schools, medical providers, etc.
January 23, 2026 at 7:59 PM
Good demonstration by @ohtheurbanity.bsky.social of how NIMBYs pair complaints about development making a neighborhood undesirable and lowering property values yet also upzoning increases land value reducing affordability.

(upzoning improves land value and affordability)
