12/12/1988: The Oscar-winning movie starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, Rain Man, premieres. It was filmed at many Cincinnati area locations such as the Roebling Bridge, The Dixie Terminal Building, CVG, Vernon Manor and, of course, Pompilio’s, where the famous toothpick counting scene occurred.

12/10/1913: Tap dancer and actor, Hal Le Roy is born. His distinctive and quirky dance style led him to Broadway and his success there quickly led him to movie roles. He went on to make many film and TV appearances despite the fact that he was a much better dancer than an actor.

11/30/1972: Neil McElroy dies. He was Secretary of Defense under Eisenhower and president of P&G, where he pioneered the idea of brand management. McElroy helped establish what is known today as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA has developed many world-changing inventions.

11/29/2020: The Simpsons’ episode "The Road to Cincinnati" premieres. In it Superintendent Chalmers and Principal Skinner visit the Queen City. It was nice to see so many landmarks on the show, however we all know chili is served on plates and not in bowls. #cincinnatihistory

10/25/1975: Evel Knievel performs the greatest stunt of his career, jumping his motorcycle 133 feet over 14 Greyhound buses at @kingsislandpr . A huge crowd attended the event, and the broadcast earned “ABC’s Wide World of Sports" its highest ratings.” #kingsisland #cincinnatihistory
