OTG activist in LA, disabled non-binary mom. Antifascist always. I defend my community from ICE. Use alt text or I will steal your picture and not give you credit. I’m labeled because of the “mom” word. Sorry.
The lib protests are a networking and radicalizing opportunity.
Folks should take advantage of that.

She was an OTG journalist I started following in 2020 when she was covering the Portland protests, and in general is a good journalist. All caveats apply, of course, but that particular article was very good advice.

I make the following exceptions to that rule:
When it's a REALLY important Substack article (Laura Jedeed put out a good one that was worth the click, and made a good point about needing to build the infrastructure to support authors who move off)
OTG folks when the situation is dynamic and

There are soooooo many other roles though.
I never fault someone who can't frontline because of a disability.
I save that ire for able-bodied cishet white men who COULD show up but choose not too. Those folks get my evil eye.

If it's like LA, yeah, there'll be a drop off. But there will be a core group or groups that will remain, others that will shift out and tap in as they can, and if things kick up again, they'll reactivate in an instant.
Burn out is real, and is one of the reasons I don't stick to one issue.

The most optimistic read is that rapid response networks in place now will be better able to respond to the more targeted kidnappings and continue to jam up ICE whether BP is here or not. The most cynical one is that a lot of people will stop paying attention.

One of the darkest parts of this timeline is knowing it is Bovino's obsession with visibility that activated most people. Without the propaganda ops, ICE/ERO could have kept going under the surface as they are. Terrain is different now. How many CBP will remain + will they continue w/ same tactics?
