Went outside for a walking meditation. Stepped onto deer tracks pressed onto the cool ground. Looked up, saw three sandhill cranes

The saw palmettos are the real show-stealers though. Considering they take foreeeeeeeeverrr to grow, these large stands are just. Extremely impressive.

I’m fascinated by the standing dead trees (snags) here. They remind me of driftwood. Just thinking about all the years and rain that must have shaped them.

Gosh but I’m in love with these pine-oak woodlands. The twisty oaks, the tall straight pines, and the clusters of fanning saw palmetto.
