Something big is going on behind the scenes in the Trump administration. There is no way Trump would be this conciliatory to Mamdani unless it plays to his advantage in someway. But, I doubt the friendliness is going to last long… Expect Trump to start attacking at some point soon.

This is a disaster for Democrats. They did not gain ANYTHING from capitulating: bad messaging, emboldening Trump / MAGA even more, thumbing their nose at their base who was supporting them / enduring pain to see this through, etc.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".
But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

Republicans hold the line when they need to, though. Unlike democrats who capitulate under pressure. We keep hoping MAGA will collapse from the inside, but they don't. Our best hope it to motivate the progressive base, like we saw on Tuesday. When will the Democratic party finally realize this?

1) Not about SNAP, benefits were going to be restored via lawsuits/states. This was about flights-corporations being affected.
2) Too convenient that the eight senators were handpicked because they are not at risk right now.
3) Democrats were given a mandate/winning & blew it again.

Create a Blue State run banking and payroll system. Blue states can withhold federal taxes from state employee contributions and shield blue state residence from IRS. Legal? Who cares at this point - time for blue states to start moving away from the federal government.

A federal judge bars the practice, but then the corrupt Trump administration files an emergency appeal to the corrupt US Supreme Court, which then allows it. The same thing is happening with SNAP right now… Emergency appeal to the Supreme Court to stop SNAP payments.
