Good news: IDOT & Gov Pritzker lukewarm on I-55 expansion. We can stop the it! It won't fix congestion & adds pollution (outdated model by CMAP) to already overburdened communities. Plus public private partnerships/deals often better for the private firms than the public.
I-55 toll lane no sure thing despite Springfield go-ahead
Expanding Interstate 55 with toll lanes is an idea that has bounced around for years and remains highly uncertain amid disagreements between organized labor and environmental interests.
