married to the ocean but sometimes i have a fling with a tree. she/her.
don't look now, but three years in and MANY attempts to leave later, and my ridiculous workplace is threatening to actually offer me a full-time, benefitted position

TAI concert report: screamed my lungs off, danced my feet off, and jesus, the contrast with the 10-yr anniversary tour is huge, they all seemed so happy & thrilled to be playing together again. they promise a new album next year, & one of the new songs had me clutching my chest over all my ~feelings

Dem-backed programs that go from campaign-promise "X FOR ALL" to a means-testing model in practice aren't just a compromise, they're a signal that maintaining the hierarchy by humiliating poor people is more important to the ruling class than having these programs reach the people who need them
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

made a decisive action to fix a very minor work fuckup no one i interact with regularly will ever know about; feel like i am about to crawl out of my skin. it's funny, you'd think confidence and anxiety would be opposites, but they're really not.

the older i get, the more i think that being the perpetually single woman in a family hasn't changed much since jane austen was writing about maiden aunts

maybe the cutest thing about my brother in law is that he genuinely believes that being seen with me in public is good for his coolness and social cred

the beautiful children (pleasant & personable young adults) who i work with are all asking what i (as someone older than them with a film-adjacent job) think if la la land.

not only have i never seen la la land, but i have never seriously considered doing so until now, because of them.

oh hell to the yeah for my home state. to quote my mom: "do we want to make it almost impossible to vote by mail in one of the most rural states in the nation? no. do we want red flag laws? yes."

the one person who's requested a yuletide fandom i want to write for so far and there's no letter, no prompts, just a list of general dislikes. tell me one thing you like, prompter! it is so hard to find inspiration for something based solely on avoiding what you do not want to see

the big social danger of halloween is the low-key costume -- compliment it at your own risk, half the time it will be Just How That Person Dresses

meeting w/ my academic writing buddy today where i just had no idea what he was talking about in his paper, all of his quotes came out of nowhere, unattributed and uncontextualized, & i tried to talk about it in a helpful way without being discouraging, but i think he walked out feeling kind of bad

i honestly think jenny lewis is one of the best storytellers american popular music has produced
I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

nice to know i've at least still got it in terms of food service appeal -- i decided to give applying to theater jobs a rest today and look and see if there were any cool little barista gigs going begging, and i got a reply to my first chatty little cover letter in less that four hours
September 26, 2025 at 7:34 PM
probably nothing will come of it, but for some reason i am vaguely picking at what could become a ted lasso fic -- does anyone want to recommend me a team they could be playing, and one or two names of people who are on it?

my superpower is that when i get a job rejection i can use that energy to fuel sending off six new applications in the next hour and a half. unfortunately, this time around, this tendency has not yet managed to get me hired.

current quitting-my-job status: blasting Leaving Las Vegas and obsessively refreshing my email even though it's the middle if the night and no one's going to send job offer emails until business hours

the trouble with interviewing at a theater i've gone to and am on mailing list and calling lists for is that now i can't ignore any of their emails or calls in case ot's about a job, but all they want to do is sell me season tickets
