For some damn reason, I watched VOLUNTEERS tonight. I'd never seen this mid-'80s Tom Hanks movie, but stumbled across it on HBO. It has the expected bits of ugly casual racism (along with a smattering of homophobia) that you expect from a forty year old comedy...1/?

Bulls win, but holy hell, was that an ugly game.
Literally having to watch the Bulls game on my phone because the NBA app is so glitchy it won't play on my MacBook all of a sudden.

After thirty plus years of hearing how Tarantino had shamelessly ripped it off, I finally got to see Ringo Lam's CITY ON FIRE last night. Good little movie. Has a weirder, goofier sense of humor than a lot of Hong Kong action flicks from that time and of course Chow Yun-fat oozes charisma. 1/2

This app is fine for chatting with people about movies and cracking bad jokes, but it's basically useless for keeping up with people or organizing things. I hate the idea of getting back on Facebook to keep up with friends, but considering it now that I'm moving back to Chicago.

Not even kidding, I had to kick an undergrad out of the library today who was dressed up like the green witch from WICKED. She was going around in character trying to warn people about the Wizard.
Let that sink in: she was bothering law students studying for finals the week before Thanksgiving. 1/2
