Destroying the New California Republic just so the TV show could have a world of shit to play in was an ass decision, especially when there were still other parts of America they could have used instead.
It wasn't a good story decision and was transparently just so the world could remain shit.

Honestly feel it might've been better to have Kosuke written out because he doesn't really matter in the long-run. Sure he's Inori's dad, but he doesn't really factor much into Inori's storyline.
