I hadn't realized he was hated (not in the 'love to hate cuz he's an effective villain' but in the 'why is he even in the story?'). I thought he was an engaging villain since he very much doesn't really hide the fact he has no 'good' reasons for his actions, and owns it.

I could use this to force my opponent to OTK themselves.
Yubel's effect allows it to not be destroyed by battle and you receive no battle damage, and if its attack you inflict damage to your opponent equal to the attack of the monster that attacked. Nightmare Pain forces your opponent to attack your Yubel monsters if they're able to, and forces your opponent to suffer damage meant for you in attacking them. This stacks with og Yubel's effect, dealing double the damage.
