Had my students read Toner's "Goodbye to Gravitas" for a discussion on taverns and bars in Pompeii, and some of them weren't quite seeing how bars could be a site for negotiating/proving masculinity, so finally I pulled up the clip from Tombstone where Doc Holliday meets Johnny Ringo:
