EXACTLY. It is sometimes difficult to quantify it in words just how worthwhile the trade off can be & is for myself & many others.
I pay more in property taxes & gas bc I live in a quiet rural village outside of the metro, but what I get in return is priceless to me as a queer woman & mom.

Every day that goes by I am comforted and relieved that I chose to call Illinois my home 17 years ago, and happier by the day that this man is my governor. For reference, I came here from TN. No going back now, that's for sure.

Me since the day I picked up The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and thought "my god. No movie adaptation will EVER be able to scratch the surface on this masterpiece." Revenge flicks just get my motor running even when cheesy but I LOVE when a good one absolutely surprises me.

Me since the day I picked up The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and thought "my god. No movie adaptation will EVER be able to scratch the surface on this masterpiece." Revenge flicks just get my motor running even when cheesy but I LOVE when a good one absolutely surprises me.
