Ive popped in paper bags. Results were tough with hulls & unpopped kernals. Nothing like store-bought. So i looked for microwave poppers with crisper metal built in. They’re not made cuz idiots would burn themselves & sue. So i made my own from a crisper & bowl. Best popcorn ever! Healthier too.

For years I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect popcorn popping technique. Why is movie theater popcorn so good? I felt i had the right ingredients, but something wasnt right. I’ve tried all types of poppers. So i decided to ask a different question: Why microwave popcorn gets it right. (Next post)

@paleontologizing.bsky.social Today I was playing a game of Geobingo (an online scavenger hunt). One of the items to find was a dinosaur, so I captured a picture of a duck. When it was voting time, I had to educate all of the players that birds ARE dinosaurs & directed them to Paleontologizing.

@paleontologizing.bsky.social Ok, we’re ready to learn about Istiorachis macarthurae.

This is the first time I've ever seen the mapping system for dino locations; the most important data that is missing from illegally obtained fossils. @paleontologizing.bsky.social

Got no sleep so here’s this with no explanation.

Evolution is all about the survival of a species. Is mankind evolving to be more stupid in order to save itself?

Will being more stupid cause a mass die-off so the environment can recover?

Wouldn’t evolving to be smarter allow us so self-regulate?

Can we just never use “smart post” or shut it down?

@paleontologizing.bsky.social I’ve been rewatching Star Trek: The Next Generation, and in the 4th season episode, Brothers, we find out that Data's creator has a certain interest.

Why has the world gone insane? Have we learned nothing at all from history both recent and distant? Guess not.

Just bought 4 more old radios at auction to restore. After that I think it’s time to build a pinball machine from scratch.

My latest tube radio restoration is complete. It was a total mess inside & out. It’s a 1951 Crosley D-25 clock radio with alarm, snooze, and sleep timer.

This Crosley D-25 radio from 1951 was a complete mess. Someone had drilled a hole in the top center of the cabinet, removed its feet, added parts that shouldn’t have been there, cut parts free and left them hanging, cut wires & twisted them together with other wires. These are the before pics.

As a kid, and now, was interested in why & how.

Why does a radio work? Got a ham radio license.

How is tv made? Worked at NBC for 2 weeks (no thanks!)

Nothing is magic. Not even magic. Why does it fool us? Learned how it works.

How can humans migrate into space? Made it my career.

Are people still buying Teslas and giant stupid metal box trucks designed by a two year old? I was once considering a Tesla, but have dropped that idea like a hot lava rock burning through my hands on the way to hell.

Oh, that 1937 Crosley? It’s done! So I restored another one just like it.

Welcome to Bluesky, newcomers! This is the future. I left X (what an appropriate name for it) a couple years ago. Had 10k followers there, but shutting down there was the priority.
